PSC reviews utility rates & renewable energy progress ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- The Public Service Commission is trying to balance the need for affordable energy with the goals of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. The CLCPA was signed into law in 2019. Their goals include shifting New York to 70% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% zero emission electricity by 2040. Another goal is to electrify 200,000 buildings annually.  NYS Thruway service areas receive criticism from travelers, state leaders "As our state is transitioning off of fossil fuels onto electrification, the commission is extremely concerned about affordability, accessibility, and also reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, while also providing a safe and reliable service from New Yorkers," said Meagan Burton, Senior Attorney at Earth Justice. Burton said there are 20,000 customers receiving incentives for transitioning to fossil fuels but that number needs to increase to 200,000. Board of Aldermen pass open carry ban ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Board of Aldermen pass two bills that address significant issues in the city in the Board’s last meeting before the summer break. The Board passed Board Bills 29 and 82 by wide margins Thursday morning.Board Bill 29 passed unanimously 14-0 while Board Bill 82 passed 11-2. Alderwoman Cara Spencer sponsored Board Bill 29. Major Case Squad identifies victim in Overland homicide OVERLAND, Mo. - Detectives with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis have identified the victim in a recent homicide, and believe they know who did it.Overland police responded to a shooting just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 9400 block of Baltimore Avenue, not far from Midland Boulevard.Officers found the victim, Gersain Rugerio-Rodriguez, laying at the end of the driveway at his home.
