SAN FRANCISCO — A man who robbed a Wells Fargo just weeks after being freed from a 24-month prison term in a prior bank robbery case has been sentenced to federal prison once again, court records show.Christian Plummer, 26, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Edward Chen to 34 months in prison. Plummer pleaded guilty to robbing a Wells Fargo in San Francisco on Dec. 30, roughly one month after he was released from federal prison.Plummer handed the teller a threatening note and left the bank with $3,100, authorities said. Unfortunately for him, a tracking device was hidden in the stack of cash and police were able to arrest him just four blocks away from the bank. The teller feared for her life, prosecutors said.In his prior case, Plummer was charged with robbing six banks but pleaded guilty to one bank robbery charge in a deal with federal prosecutors. In the current case, prosecutors cited those prior charges and his latest offense in arguing for a 46-month prison term.Plumm...Brian Sabean, SF Giants’ World Series architect, says he no longer roots for club

With the 10-year anniversary of their last championship, the third in a magical five-year run, around the corner, the San Francisco Giants’ World Series era is only fading further into the rearview mirror, and now the architect of those clubs says he no longer roots for the organization.“Do I have any ill feelings? No. But do I root for the Giants? I can’t say that I do,” Brian Sabean said during a recent appearance on “The Krueg Show.”Sabean, 67, joined the Giants’ front office in 1993 and spent the bulk of his career running their baseball operations, overseeing the club’s first World Series title in San Francisco in 2010 and delivering two more in a span of four years, until Farhan Zaidi took over after the 2018 season.Sabean departed the organization last January to become an adviser to Yankees GM Brian Cashman, an opportunity he said “was always on the table” and “should’ve seen … sooner.” Transitioni...Jim Jordan’s speaker bid on the brink amid steep GOP opposition

(CNN) — Rep. Jim Jordan&#’;s speaker bid is in peril as the Ohio Republican confronts steep opposition from members of his own party, raising serious questions over whether he can flip enough holdouts to win the gavel. The House is slated to hold a second speaker vote Wednesday in what could be a pivotal moment for Jordan&#’;s candidacy. An initial round of voting on Tuesday resulted in 20 Republicans voting against Jordan, far more than the handful he could afford to lose given the GOP&#’;s narrow majority. As pressure grows on Republicans to find a way out of the leadership crisis, some have pushed for expanding the powers of the interim speaker, Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina. Republicans are discussing the possibility of bringing forward a resolution to empower McHenry as soon as Wednesday afternoon, two sources told CNN. Jordan dug in Wednesday morning, saying he is going to stay in the race and rejected the idea of ...Bay Area Heat Advisory begins, high surf expected
