BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — The American women’s 4×400 relay team was disqualified from the preliminary round at the world championships Saturday after their third and fourth runners in the four-lap race bungled the baton exchange.Quanera Hayes missed on several attempts to hand the stick to anchor runner Alexis Holmes. When they finally did make the exchange, they were out of the legal passing zone.It was the latest chapter in a long stretch of problems for Team USA in the relays, though a mishap in the longer relay is relatively rare because none of the runners are going as fast, and there isn’t as much traffic. With runners such as Allyson Felix, Sydney McLaughlin and Dalilah Muhammad leading the way in recent years, this has been as close to a sure thing as there is for the United States, which has won this race at seven of the last eight worlds. This year, they won’t even make the final. The U.S. men and women were due to race in the 4×100 relay later in t...West Ham ends Brighton’s perfect record in EPL

BRIGHTON, England (AP) — West Ham put on a counterattacking masterclass to end Brighton’s perfect start to the English Premier League by beating the host 3-1 on Saturday.Brighton had a majority of the possession but West Ham made the most of its counters as the visitor raced to 3-0 thanks to goals from James Ward-Prowse, Jarred Bowen and Michail Antonio.Pascal Gross pulled one back in the 81st minute and had good chances for a second but West Ham held on for a second straight 3-1 victory after beating Chelsea at home last weekend. It turned the tables on a Brighton side that looked rampant in scoring four times in each of its first two games.Ward-Prowse had two assists in that Chelsea game and added his first West Ham goal — and 50th in the league overall — from close range in the 19th against Brighton. ___AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccerSourceCar severely wrecked after falling over I-95 ramp in NW Miami-Dade; driver, 2 others injured
